The challenge

We have chosen Women’s Aid as our official charity partner, working towards raising awareness around domestic abuse through charity fundraising and by supporting the charity on a pro bono basis. As an organisation largely made up of women, the safety of other women and the support we can give them is a cause close to our hearts.

Women’s Aid is a national charity working to end domestic abuse against women and children. As a federation, they provide life-saving services across England while building a future where domestic abuse is not tolerated.

Women’s Aid’s core values include being survivor-centred, feminist, empowering and inclusive. Their focus is placed on supporting the sector, their members and survivors, all through a community based approach. Women’s Aid also provide education and resources around the issue of domestic abuse through cutting edge research and training.

We recently had Fern White-Andrews – Senior Corporate Fundraising Officer visit the Marble studio to do a lunch and learn session with our entire team, to educate us more on domestic abuse and how we can support the charity with their vital work.

The Women’s Aid national conference is a key part of the events calendar within the domestic abuse sector and brings together the federation of the charity’s member organisations with a wide and diverse range of leading voices from within and beyond the sector.

With a focus on innovation and solution-focused perspectives and content, the key theme of the conference was around how, despite challenging times, Women’s Aid can together build a strong and future-fit federation that continues to provide safety and support for survivors for as long as it is needed.

We donated the Marble team’s time and skills to support the production of the event which included a wide range of key notes, panels and workshops with practical solutions for key policy and practice issues that impact services and the survivors they work with and for every day.

We have also factored in ongoing fundraising activities to our office calendar and so have so far hosted a clothes swap in partnership with Great Western Studios – our studio provider, a bake off and Women’s Aid’s 1.7 challenge month, all coordinated by our Culture Club who have taken the lead on this charity partnership.
