Challenge

Continuing our 2020 content, comms and experience partnership, the Henkel dx Ventures team asked to kick off their Xchange series for 2021. The purpose of the event is to unite corporate innovators, who gather at high-impact discussions throughout the Xchange series.

For the first Xchange event of this year, the goal was to showcase pioneering individuals from start-ups and corporates in the D2C sector, and to create an environment which fosters discussion about the future of digital commerce. We were also tasked with designing a narrative and brainstorming hybrid, virtual and physical experience formats to implement in 2021.

Xchange highlights:

  • 120 attendees (93% attendance rate)
  • 11 countries
  • 11 speakers
  • 7 sessions
  • 90.9% found it beneficial to their role/company
  • 100% would attend another Xchange event

Solution

We produced and curated the half day virtual experience with some of the most disruptive D2C businesses and investors in the digital lifestyle and D2C space. This was identified as a key topic within the industry, during the times of rapidly changing consumer purchasing behaviour and e-commerce market.

After ever-changing Covid restrictions it was decided at the beginning of 2021 that this event would go virtual. We used the key data and learnings from our 2020 Xchange, and started setting out clearly measurable objectives to help us track the ROI of this event.

We adapted the format used at previous Xchange events and focused on having insightful fireside conversations with a handful of keynotes, sharing the key meta-trends in the D2C space. We were delighted to have some of the most exciting D2C juggernauts including Ronny Gottschlich (Co-Founder and CCO, Gorillas Technologies), Antoine Nussenbaum (Founding Partner & Investor, Felix Capital), Colette Laxton (Founder of The Inkey List), and Whitney Hawkings (CEO of FLOWERBX). We were also pleased to share the insights of Henkel’s joint venture: eSalon.

90.9% of attendees found the experience to be beneficial to their role or company, and 100% stated they would attend another Xchange event. We are already looking forward to continuing the Henkel dx Ventures series with the next (hopefully!) physical experience in Berlin.
