Challenge

Marble were challenged with the creative development of the Boden in Residence concept including set design and prop styling for Boden’s flagship store on King’s Road, Chelsea.

The brief was to create a larger than life, immersive set build of an artist studio, telling the story behind Boden’s iconic hand drawn designs featuring floral prints, and to weave in a floral layer during the week of Chelsea in Bloom.

With Boden being a long standing client of Marble’s for four years, we understand the brand and were able to work alongside the Boden design team to produce artworks representative of minimal floral studies and designs linked to products currently in store.

Solution

We designed and produced a double-faceted window installation and styling elements throughout the shop for Boden’s flagship store on the King’s Road, Chelsea, as part of their Boden in Residence campaign. Despite Boden not entering the inaugural ‘Chelsea in Bloom’ competition, the display still won a Bronze award for best window dressing having garnered the attention of passersby and judges of the competition.

The windows were designed to look like an authentic artist studio to tell the journey of Boden designs through piles of samples, mood boarding, hand painted canvases and folded clothes. We displayed large canvas paintings of florals, smaller floral studies on paper, distressed wooden easels and ladders, and vintage artist props including pallets, paintbrushes and jars, designed to look like the working studio of Boden’s designers. During the Chelsea in Bloom week we weaved a floral layer into the window displays in order to tie into the wider King’s Road aesthetic.

The displays drew the attention of passersby into the store to purchase and Boden even received requests to purchase the paintings in the window displays. Boden plan to auction the paintings for charity at the end of the campaign.
