How Can We Ensure Longevity and Sustained Success for Female Founders?
Maryam Samad, Account Manager at Marble, shares her inspirations from working with The Stack World and their Founder – Sharmadean Reid MBE, along with her insights into the landscape for female-led businesses.
The Stack World Conference – Empowering Women and Their Communities
More women than ever are starting businesses, with astronomical growth in all-female-led incorporations seen over the past two years. As glass ceilings are being shattered, how can we ensure longevity and sustained success for these businesses in the system today?
Working alongside the powerhouse Sharmadean Reid MBE this year as we helped deliver The Stack World Conference – a packed events programme which was completely eye-opening to the wealth of possibility and genuine support that The Stack World has created.
More than a networking app, The Stack World has carved out a space both virtually and physically for women to meet, create and grow – whether that be growing their network, their business, or grow personally, as The Stack contains a library of key resources on myriad topics, focused on how you individually can thrive. Moreover, a new feature of the platform this year has enabled members to create their own success through the app – women can start their businesses on the platform itself, creating their own ticketed events series for example, sharing knowledge or growing their business through creating focus groups on the app.
It is here that you will find a global community of female founders equipping themselves with the information and tools they need to rise and succeed, and an overwhelming sense of being on the precipice of something big. Spend five minutes on the app and you will find that each founder is geared towards finding solutions to existing problems and creatively filling gaps in almost every industry and sector.
Ultimately, it is platforms like The Stack World that are providing the building blocks to a whole new system for female-led businesses to thrive in the long term. Speaking at the Pitch Night event we created with the Stack World, where founders are invited to pitch for funding from angel and seed to series A level and anyone in the audience can choose to invest in anyone, Sharmadean implored the audience to consider investment just as much as business creation. The way we can create genuine change is if women have the confidence to invest in other women.
Everybody wins in a world that supports and champions women
Here at Marble, we celebrate innovation and creativity and our team members are constantly sharing news about businesses and apps set up by women, for women. On our spotlight this week is Becon, an incredibly innovative app making walking home as safe as possible – a sad problem to have to solve, but a very necessary tool for anyone worried about walking home alone. Becon monitors your device to look out for unusual speed, motion and location activity, until you reach your destination. If a Safety Trigger is activated, the app will check in on you first by sending a timed, security-enabled notification to your device.
We need to continue seeing more female founders succeed in business, and have the same chance at investment and growth when they do. Everybody wins in a world that supports and champions women.
